We were approached by the Developer on this Permitted Development scheme when he realised that his existing cladding façade was combustible. We engaged with the design team and primarily the EWS1 Surveyor and managed
to propose a pragmatic solution with regards to proposed wall build. The entire external envelope was 1621m2 in total.
The Developer discovered the issue with the existing wall build up late in the construction program and as a result the wall replacement works had to be undertaken when many of the units were internally complete. This led to weathering issues and additional complications.
The completed external wall build ups were completed on time and this also allowed for the scheme to be completed in line with stringent planning deadlines.
The final external wall build up consisted of;
- Cement Board fixed to the existing Metsec frame and encased with fire rated mastic
- Corofil compressed fire breaks to all party wall, floor junctions and around all windows
- A helping hand system to ensure a level platform for the final façade
- The Joriside cladding system
